There are a surprising large number of free festivals still upcoming in Sydney.
As a quick update:
Night Noodle Market has been cancelled the past few nights due to the weather. It’s pouring down rain in Sydney at the moment after a gorgeous sunny weekend!
More festivals:
Started on 11 October until 25 October. Free breakfasts at inner city locations for the city commuters. Culminating in a grande finale at the Domain in a night cycle complete with food stalls etc on Sunday 25 October. And it’s all free! Another great festival by the City of Sydney (no I’m not sponsored by them!)
Great sustainability messaging by promoting people to cycle.
Granny Smith Festival – Eastwood
This Saturday 18 October in Eastwood from 9am – 8pm. Thanks to one of my bunny friends for inviting me to this lovely local event that has been running since 1985.
Wow, apparently it is the local Maria Ann Smith who grew the first batch of Granny Smith Apples and where the name comes from. So the festival celebrates her legacy. A great family friendly local event.
9 November 2014 marks this years famous Newtown festival which celebrates the diversity of this area. Full of music, stalls, entertainment and quirky pieces.
This year, they are making a stand in declaring Newtown a Republic – the locals are definitely proud of their area.
Newtown festival is particularly proud of its sustainability stand and making the event environmentally friendly.
If you’re still energetic for more after Newtown, drop into nearby Glebe on 16 November 2014 for the Glebe St Fair that has been running 31 years now.
The main Glebe Point Road will be closed for stalls (food and craft), entertainment and fun.
This was Travel Bunny’s first Sydney free festival (it was on the day after moving to Sydney). Definitely recommended!
Happy Free Festival hopping!
